The 11th edition of Bulgaria's Sofia MENAR Film Festival is set to screen three Iranian short films.

The 11th edition of Bulgaria's Sofia MENAR Film Festival is set to screen three Iranian short films, including 'Chimney Man'.

Animated short film 'Chimney Man', directed by Meqdad Akhavan, has made it to the short film section of the Bulgarian event.

'Chimney Man' addresses air pollution and talks about a man who has been sincerely working for years in cleaning chimneys and passing into the long pipes of factories to remove obstructions lingering there in order to allow air to cross.

Once, while he was working and exhausted, a wheat branch passes through one of the valves and fall in front of his eyes and subsequently disturbs his mind and life, a synopsis of the animation wrote.

Since then, the man has thought about the wheat branch round-the-clock and reviewed his memories, according to the plot summary.

In November, the animation took part at the Rome Independent Film Festival (RIFF) in Italy.

Iran's shorts 'Opaque' made by Abouzar Paknejad and 'American Bull' by Fatemeh Toosi will also be displayed at MENAR along with films from the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Lebanon, Pakistan, France, Germany and Kenya.

"Sofia MENAR Film Festival makes Bulgarian audience familiar with the culture and traditions of the Islam world. The program of Sofia MENAR Film Festival presents the best of Middle East and North Africa cinema productions, including feature films, documentaries and short projects," according the official website of the gala.

The 2019 edition of the festival will take place on January 15-31, 2019 in Bulgaria's capital, Sofia.
